Many people are surprised when they find out that our office is a family practice. What could a kid possibly need a chiropractor for? They don’t have back pain or headaches. When people ask this it is clear to us that what we do is misunderstood. Chiropractic care is not for treating pain! This may come as a surprise to many, some may have even gone to a chiropractor and had their pain relieved! While pain relief is a common side effect of chiropractic care, it is not the goal. When you see are chiropractor you are having your nervous system checked. Your nervous system is made up of you brain and spinal cord and is your bodies master control system. When there is interference in your nervous system your body does not function at 100%. You may not even notice this decreased function, but it is there. This decreased functioning nervous system can cause many problems that people often don’t think they should see a chiropractor for. These can include back pain and headaches, but can also be a wide range of other conditions such as autoimmune disease, fibromyalgia, digestive problems, menstrual problems, infertility, and many more. If you have any kind of imbalance in your body you should have your nervous system checked. This brings us back to why we would see children, we seem them for things such as ear infections, colic, bed wetting, ADD/ADHD, autism, allergies, poor behavior, and much more. With these conditions and the many more we see patients for the goal is never to treat the condition, but to care for the whole person. By clearing out any interferences in the nervous system the body is able to then heal itself, with no outside drugs or surgery. Our bodies are much more intelligent than we give them credit. So keep your whole families nervous systems functioning optimally by getting them checked regularly.
