Just Lies

Just Lies

A magazine cover caught my eye while waiting in a mechanic's office.  Reader's Digest depicted a handful of vitamins with the title "Vitamin Scam"  I had to read it.  They go through 4 myths and 1 truth about vitamins according to them.

First, there are no referrences to confirm the information in the story.  All you will find are obscure dates and the names of organizations without the mention of any publications.

Second, they contridict themselves numerous times.  They say that vitamins have no warrant against cancer, heart disease, cold and flu, and overall health but later you read that you should get vitamins through food.  If vitamins are useless why should we seek them out in food?

Vitamin D gets a standing ovation for its positive effects on numerous diseases and it so happens that this vitamin is now being precribed and is mass produced by Big Pharma.  Which brings us to what else was found in the magazine: 8 seperate drug ads.  So I understand this, we shouldn't take vitamins because they are unsafe, have no healing benefit, and can be found in food, but we should take pharmaceuticals which combate only symptoms, are expensive, and have pages of side effects.

To conclude the author was not listed nor were their qualifcations.

For truthful information about the positive effects of a healthy lifestyle and taking vitamins call us or come by, we will be happy to point you in the right direction.
